Let the comparisons of Jerry Rice begin. I’m not sure if the 49ers expected Michael Crabtree to fall all the way to the 10th pick, but I am sure the organizations and fans were estatic when it happened. Can Michael Crabtree’s legend continue to grow while playing in the shadows of arguably the best wide receiver to ever play the game? Only time will tell, but if he well he played in college was any indication of what to expect, then we’re all going to be truly witnessing something amazing. He has the ability to catch anything thrown his way and with that big body of his, smaller cornerbacks are going to be given hell just trying to cover him. But is he all the 49ers need to get the offense going? Even with a terrible passing game a season ago, Frank Gore was able to go over 1,000 rushing yards. Michael Crabtree is an amazing athlete, but who will be throwing the ball his way? Will Alex Smith ever live up to being the number one overall pick? Will the rookie Nate Davis come in and steal the job? Or will Shaun Hill or J.T. Sullivan (both started last season) earn the job? I don’t think none of the four quarterbacks are ones you can rely upon to lead you to the post-season, atleast not right now. However, the possibility of an open competition could drive them to become better and something good could come of it. Posted in 1 | No Comments »
